Managed IT Services
Managed IT support for Pretoria firms that take security and growth seriously
Rhentech provides managed IT support for Pretoria and Johannesburg firms of 10 to 250 staff: a business-hours helpdesk, 24/7 monitoring, Microsoft 365 administration, backup and recovery, and cybersecurity built into every layer. There is one premium service, with no tiers, run by senior consultants and backed by service levels agreed in writing.
30 minutes, free of charge. We respond within one business day.
- Senior-ledThe consultant who scopes your service stays on your account.
- SLA-backedResponse targets are agreed in writing before you sign.
- Security built inEndpoint, identity and DNS protection are part of the service, not add-ons.
What does managed IT support from Rhentech include?
Everything below is included in the one service we offer. There are no tiers, no basic plan, and nothing essential is sold as an extra.
- 01
Helpdesk and IT support
A helpdesk for your staff during business hours, by phone, email and ticket, with response targets agreed in writing and reported every month. Joiners, leavers, devices and access requests are handled as routine, not as projects.
- 02
24/7 monitoring and alerting
Servers, firewalls, devices and Microsoft 365 are monitored around the clock, and alerts are triaged against an agreed escalation path. A failing disk, an expiring certificate or an unusual sign-in is dealt with before it becomes downtime.
- 03
Microsoft 365 administration and security
We administer and secure your Microsoft 365 tenant: Entra ID identities, conditional access, Intune device policies and Defender protection. Conditional access is the Entra ID policy engine that decides whether a sign-in is allowed, based on the user, the device, the location and the risk.
- 04
Cybersecurity at the office and on the road
Endpoint detection and response (EDR) runs on every laptop and server: software that records device behaviour, detects attacker activity and can isolate a machine automatically. DNS filtering through DNSFilter or Cloudflare protects staff who work from home or travel, not only those in the office.
- 05
Backup, disaster recovery and patching
Security updates are applied on a defined schedule, with critical fixes fast-tracked. Backups with Veeam or Acronis are designed around how quickly you need to recover, priced to that need, and restore-tested so the recovery time is known before it is needed.
- 06
High-availability connectivity
Office networks designed to stay up when a line fails or the power goes: firewalls from Fortinet or Cisco, Ubiquiti or Cisco wireless and switching, and a second internet link with automatic failover where the business depends on being online.
- 07
AI compliance, security and local AI
We bring staff use of AI tools under control with an approved list, data-loss controls and a written policy aligned to POPIA. Where AI work involves personal or confidential information, we can run models on hardware you control, so prompts and documents stay inside your environment.
- 08
Quarterly strategy reviews
Every quarter a senior consultant reviews service performance, risks, licences and the roadmap with your leadership. Technology decisions are tied to where the business is going, not just to keeping the lights on.
What has this approach delivered for clients?
Anonymised engagements. Client names are never published; a reference conversation can be arranged on request.
- Ransomware recovery to managed security
Situation: A JSE-listed retail group with 2.8 million loyalty members hit by ransomware over a public-holiday weekend, with an Information Regulator file opened after the section 22 notification.
Outcome: No loyalty data exfiltrated, confirmed by forensics. SENS announcement issued within the disclosure window. Regulator file closed with no fine. A continuing managed security engagement now covers the loyalty data.
- Network segmentation and managed detection
Situation: A platinum producer across two provinces with no separation between corporate IT and operational technology, and reconnaissance detected against its PLC firmware servers.
Outcome: Segmentation in place across both sites within eight weeks. Vendor remote access by jump host only. No production stoppage. Quarterly readiness reviews built into the managed service.
Where a managed engagement usually starts

How does the move to Rhentech work?
Three stages, agreed in writing before anything changes.
-
Assessment
We assess your current estate, usually through a cybersecurity audit, so the transition plan rests on evidence rather than assumptions. You see the findings whether or not you go ahead.
-
Transition
A planned handover from your current provider: documentation, asset inventory, credentials, runbooks and security baselines, with no gap in cover.
-
Steady state
Monthly service reports against the agreed targets, and quarterly strategy reviews with your leadership.

What do firms ask before they switch?
Not answered here? Ask it on the call.
Who is Rhentech managed IT support for?
Owner-led firms of 10 to 50 staff, and regulated firms of 50 to 250 staff in finance, legal, healthcare and professional services. The decision usually sits with the owner, the COO or financial director, or the compliance lead. What they share is that a breach or a day of downtime would be a serious event for the business.
How is the service priced, and is there a cheaper tier?
There are no tiers. There is one premium service, and it is not built to be the cheapest option. Rhentech does not compromise on security or service quality, so we work only with firms that are serious about cybersecurity and about using technology to grow. Pricing is agreed in writing after the assessment, with backup sized and priced to your recovery needs.
What service levels do you commit to?
Every client has written service levels covering response and resolution targets for each priority, agreed before the contract starts. We report against them every month. We do not publish a single headline response time, because the right targets depend on how your firm operates.
Do you manage Microsoft 365, Azure and AWS?
Yes. We administer Microsoft 365 end to end, including Entra ID, Intune, Defender and Exchange Online, and we manage workloads in Azure and AWS, including their South African regions. Security baselines, conditional access and licence reviews are part of the service, not separate projects.
How does the service help with POPIA?
Section 19 of POPIA requires appropriate, reasonable technical and organisational measures to secure personal information, and section 22 requires the Information Regulator and affected people to be notified as soon as reasonably possible after a security compromise. At its 31 August 2026 briefing the Regulator reported more than 1,220 security compromise notifications since 1 April 2026. Our controls and monthly reports give you the evidence for section 19 and the logs to answer a section 22 notification quickly.
Why is cybersecurity built in rather than sold separately?
Because most incidents begin with ordinary IT gaps. In Sophos's State of Ransomware in South Africa 2026 (July 2026), compromised credentials caused 27% of attacks and exploited vulnerabilities 25%, and only 40% of victims recovered within a week. Separating support from security leaves exactly those gaps between two suppliers.
